Mohamed Salah Drops Bombshell on Van Dijk’s Future: Will Liverpool Captain Leave After Premier League Title Win?

Mohamed Salah has spoken publicly about the future of Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, hinting at the possibility that the Dutch defender might leave Anfield after the current season even if the Reds clinch the Premier League title.

Salah, who just ended months of speculation by signing a two-year contract extension with Liverpool on Friday, expressed his strong desire to continue playing alongside Van Dijk.

“I really want to keep playing with Virgil next season. He’s a leader, a fighter, and a big part of our team. I hope he stays we still have a lot to achieve together,” Salah said.

Van Dijk’s contract is set to expire this summer, and while fans are optimistic that a renewal is on the horizon, the Dutchman has yet to put pen to paper. His recent heroics, including a match-winning header against West Ham on Sunday, have only added to the calls for the club to secure his future.

The 2-1 win over West Ham saw Luis

Díaz open the scoring in the 18th minute after Liverpool dominated the first half. But a late own goal by Andy Robertson threatened to derail the Reds’ momentum. Just four minutes from time, Van Dijk rose above the defense to head in the winner from a corner, then celebrated emotionally by kissing the Liverpool badge in front of The Kop.

The result keeps Liverpool firmly at the top of the Premier League, now sitting 13 points clear of their nearest rivals. If they defeat Leicester City this weekend and Arsenal fall to Ipswich Town, Arne Slot’s men could secure the title with five games to spare.

However, Van Dijk’s contract situation remains a cloud over an otherwise thrilling campaign. While Salah’s public plea may sway the captain’s decision, fans will be eagerly waiting to see if the club legend will commit to a new chapter or bow out as a Premier League champion.
