After joining Brighton in August 2023, midfielder Baleba initially faced challenges in securing a consistent spot in the starting lineup. However, under the guidance of Fabian Hürzeler this season, he has become a pivotal player, making 27 appearances across various competitions.

Baleba’s standout performances have caught the attention of several top English clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City. Former Cameroon international Bernard Tchoutang, in an interview with Africa Foot, expressed his astonishment at the 21-year-old’s swift acclimatization to the Premier League. He confessed that he initially thought it would take Baleba two years to adjust but has been impressed by his rapid progress.

Tchoutang observed that Brighton is asking for a high transfer fee due to the growing interest in the player, but he highlighted that Baleba’s strong mindset and support from his family would keep him focused on his game, rather than being distracted by financial matters.

While Tchoutang suggested that another year at Brighton could benefit Baleba’s development, he feels the midfielder is prepared to make a move to a top-tier club. He particularly recommended Liverpool over Chelsea, citing the Reds’ playing style under Arne Slot as a perfect match.

“Liverpool would be the ideal club for him,” Tchoutang stated. “Their pressing, attacking football, and trust in young players would help him thrive. Chelsea, on the other hand, are having an average season and aren’t on the same level as Liverpool or Arsenal. Baleba has the skills to play for one of England’s best teams, and he’s ready to take that step.”
