Liverpool bid £40m million for Bournemouth’s left-back Milos Kerkez as Arne Slot seeks defensive reinforcement

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to submit a £40 million offer for Bournemouth’s left-back Milos Kerkez, as manager Arne Slot looks to strengthen the team’s defensive options. The 21-year-old Kerkez has become one of the Premier League’s top full-backs since joining Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.
The Hungarian international has not only reinforced Bournemouth’s defense but has also caught the attention of leading clubs, including Liverpool. The Reds see Kerkez as a possible long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who is 31 and approaching the final stages of his career. Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, played a crucial role in bringing Kerkez to the Premier League during his time at Bournemouth, which could assist in negotiations.
Kerkez’s link to Liverpool goes beyond administrative connections, as he is close friends with fellow Hungarian and Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. When asked about the possibility of joining Szoboszlai at Anfield, Kerkez said, “It wouldn’t look bad, that’s for sure,” though he noted his current focus on Bournemouth’s ongoing season.
Bournemouth, aware of the rising interest in their key defender, have set a price above £40 million. With Kerkez’s contract running until 2028, the club holds a strong bargaining position. However, given Liverpool’s desire to refresh their squad and the player’s apparent willingness to move, a transfer in the summer seems likely.
As the season unfolds, attention will be on Kerkez’s performances and any updates regarding his potential transfer to Anfield. His combination of defensive stability and offensive capability makes him a valuable asset, and his acquisition would fit with Liverpool’s strategy to stay competitive at the highest level.
