Unless there is a significant change in circumstances, Barcelona are poised to acquire a player discarded by Florentino Pérez and Real Madrid. Recent reports suggest that the defender, eager to play in La Liga, is on the verge of joining the Catalan club.

After injuries to Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão, Real Madrid were ready to take action in the transfer market during January if the team faced defensive challenges. At that point, several potential signings were considered by the Madrid hierarchy. Much like Sergio Ramos, who was turned down by Florentino Pérez even though he was available for free, Jonathan Tah was also presented as an option. However, after solutions were found with Raúl Asensio and Aurélien Tchouaméni by Carlo Ancelotti, the solid Bayer Leverkusen defender, whose contract expires next June, did not receive a positive response from Madrid.

Despite his experience, the 29-year-old defender, who plays alongside Antonio Rüdiger for the German national team, has never been regarded seriously. Desperate to join a Spanish club and experience a new league after spending his entire career in the Bundesliga, Jonathan Tah and his representatives have allegedly offered him to FC Barcelona. With no move to Real Madrid materializing, the German defender would be eager to work with Hansi Flick, his fellow countryman. According to recent updates from the Madrid newspaper *Marca*, things appear to be moving forward for Tah.

Due to the current defensive issues at the Catalan club, it is reported that Joan Laporta has given his approval for the arrival of the player rejected by Madrid next season. Unless there is a dramatic change, he is expected to sign a contract with FC Barcelona and arrive after June 30. Regardless, it is a positive development for La Liga to have a player of his caliber. With Raúl Asensio confirming there is talent within the Madrid reserve, Florentino Pérez no longer plans to pursue players approaching their thirties.
