A controversy arose during Barcelona’s match against Rayo Vallecano after VAR ruled out what seemed like a legitimate goal for the visitors due to an offside decision.

Replays showed that the Rayo player who scored appeared to be onside when the ball was passed, causing frustration among the team and their fans. Many supporters and analysts argue that this decision unfairly deprived Rayo of an important equalizer, claiming they were “robbed” at the Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys.

The disallowed goal has added to the ongoing debate over VAR’s consistency in La Liga, with opposing fans arguing that such calls often favor Barcelona.

VAR later explained that the goal was disallowed because an offside Rayo Vallecano player was judged to have interfered with the play by obstructing Barcelona defender Iñigo Martínez.
