VIDEO | Darwin Nunez with the MISS OF THE SEASON against Aston Villa.

Liverpool played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Aston Villa in a high-octane Premier League clash at Villa Park. While the result extended their lead at the top to eight points, Arsenal’s game in hand keeps the title race wide open.
The Reds started on the front foot, dictating play early on and carving out several chances. Their pressure paid off when Mohamed Salah pounced on a defensive lapse to put Liverpool ahead, notching his 24th goal of the season.
Diogo Jota was instrumental in the opener, intercepting a misplaced pass before selflessly teeing up Salah for an easy finish.
But Villa responded with intent. Marcus Rashford, making his first start for the club, was a constant menace, stretching Liverpool’s defense. Just before halftime, the hosts found their equalizer—Youri Tielemans rifled home a stunning volley after Liverpool failed to clear a set-piece.
Moments later, Ollie Watkins found himself unmarked in the box and nodded past Alisson, flipping the script as Villa took a 2-1 lead into the break.
Liverpool, dealing with the fatigue of a grueling schedule, had to dig deep in the second half. They survived a huge scare when Rashford rounded Alisson and seemed certain to score, only for Ibrahima Konaté to produce a crucial goal-line clearance.
Their persistence paid off when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s strike took a wicked deflection and beat Emiliano Martínez, bringing the Reds level at 2-2.
Both sides chased a late winner in an electrifying finale. Darwin Núñez, coming off the bench, had a golden opportunity to snatch all three points but blazed his effort over the bar.
Villa almost had the final say, with Donyell Malen rattling the post in the dying seconds.
While Liverpool remain unbeaten on the road in the league, the draw leaves the door open for Arsenal to close the gap. With only a handful of games left, every point could be decisive in the race for the title.
