**LIVERPOOLBREAKING:** Liverpool could acquire Alexander Isak this summer, but only under one specific condition. Published 2 days ago on February 17, 2025, by Destiny Omodion
Liverpool is reportedly contemplating parting ways with Darwin Nunez at the conclusion of the season and has identified potential replacements. The club has previously shown interest in Brighton’s Joao Pedro as a potential successor to the Uruguayan forward at Anfield.
As the season nears its end, Arne Slot’s team is considering various options and exploring the market to reinforce their attacking squad. According to Caught Offside’s reports, the Premier League leaders have set their sights on Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as a key target. The Swedish international has been in superb form this season, netting 17 goals in the league, providing five assists, and scoring two goals in the Carabao Cup, helping Newcastle reach the final. His impressive performances have attracted attention from top clubs across Europe.
Sources suggest that Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all eager to strengthen their attacks and are closely monitoring Isak’s situation. However, securing his transfer could prove challenging due to Newcastle’s position. Eddie Howe’s team is eager to extend Isak’s contract until 2030/2031, offering him a salary increase as a reward for his continued success.
To land Isak, Liverpool would have to surpass their transfer record. Reports indicate that Newcastle might only entertain offers ranging from €150-€170 million if Isak turns down a new deal. This hefty price tag could be beyond Liverpool’s financial capability, considering their recent conservative approach in the transfer market. Consequently, the club may look at alternative targets, with Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram emerging as another potential replacement for Nunez.
In addition to bolstering their attack, Liverpool is also aiming to reinforce their defense. Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven is reportedly on their radar as they look to strengthen their defensive line.
As the transfer window nears, Liverpool’s recruitment strategy will likely involve striking a balance between their ambitions and financial caution, carefully assessing their options in both attack and defense.
