Liverpool’s star players will miss the big match against Aston Villa on Wednesday!

Liverpool secured a win against Wolves this weekend, preserving our seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

However, there was some bad news as Paul Joyce confirmed that one player will miss our midweek match with Aston Villa.

In his report for The Times, the northern football correspondent shared:

‘[Luis Diaz] was moved back to the left wing due to Cody Gakpo’s ankle injury, which is expected to keep him out of the Villa game, and appeared more at ease than when used as a No9.’

It’s certainly concerning to learn that the Dutchman will miss another match because of the ankle injury he picked up during the Merseyside derby.

Arne Slot had already confirmed that the winger was a doubt for the Wolves match, which suggests his injury may be more serious than initially thought.

With Luis Diaz impressing in his usual position and Diogo Jota performing well as a central forward, we’re still well-placed to manage his absence.

Furthermore, the availability of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa adds depth to the squad, allowing us to rotate and maintain attacking strength.

We can only hope that this won’t be a long-term problem and that the Reds can continue to be effective in attack, even without the player who has only been outscored by Mo Salah in a Liverpool shirt this season.

We’ll find out this week if we have enough to overcome Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Newcastle United and either maintain or extend our lead at the top of the Premier League.
