What Marcus Rashford ‘really thinks’ of Jadon Sancho’s controversial Instagram comment revealed

Jadon Sancho sparked significant attention with his comment on Marcus Rashford’s Instagram post following Rashford’s debut for Aston Villa.

Rashford played his first game for Villa on Sunday night, coming off the bench during their FA Cup fourth-round win over Spurs. This marked his return to action after being sidelined at Manchester United by Ruben Amorim, who had criticized his effort and performance in training.

Rashford had been linked to various clubs, including AC Milan and Barcelona, but Villa managed to sign the England international late in the transfer window and gave him the No.9 shirt. His move is initially on loan, with Villa holding the option to make the transfer permanent for £40 million.

During the match, Rashford received loud cheers from Villa fans, appearing sharp and eager to prove himself after joining fellow new recruit Marco Asensio.

After the game, Rashford posted several photos from the match on Instagram, writing, “Thank you for the warm welcome. Great team performance.” His post attracted a flood of comments from former teammates and current colleagues, but Sancho’s one-word comment, “Freedom!” drew the most attention.

Sancho, who had been publicly sidelined by Erik ten Hag at United following a social media post contradicting the manager, was made to train and dine alone after refusing to apologize. After a brief return for pre-season, he was loaned to Chelsea, where they have an obligation to buy him for around £25 million.

Though Rashford and Sancho are friends, sources tell the Daily Mail that Rashford is not happy with the comment. It is reported that he “doesn’t appreciate being dragged into his former United and England teammate’s apparent issues with the club.”

Rashford remains keen to maintain a positive relationship with his boyhood club and the fans who supported him since his rise in 2015. While Sancho is no longer in the United players’ WhatsApp group, he is still technically part of the team, and the club continues to pay a portion of his £250,000-a-week salary while he plays at Chelsea, where he has scored twice and contributed two assists.

Both Rashford and Sancho share the same PR agency, which also represents Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Mason Mount.

Rashford could make his full debut for Villa on Saturday when they face Ipswich Town at Villa Park.
