In a recent press conference ahead of Manchester City’s critical Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid, manager Pep Guardiola addressed questions about his feelings toward the Spanish club. When asked whether he feared Real Madrid, Guardiola confidently responded, “I respect them greatly, but I’m not scared.”

Guardiola emphasized the importance of preparation and flexibility, saying, “We need to be ready. We will only know who plays or how they play ten minutes before the match. We need to address the areas where we weren’t strong in the first game. Real Madrid deserves credit—they’re not just any opponent. However, we must impose our style of play as much as we can.”

He also highlighted football’s unpredictable nature, saying, “If we played Madrid yesterday, it would be a different game tomorrow. No two matches are identical; we’ve learned, they’ve learned. Let’s focus on doing what we need to do. It is what it is, it’s challenging. That’s the goal we aim for.”

Guardiola’s remarks reflect his respect for Real Madrid’s quality while expressing confidence in his team’s preparedness and tactics. He acknowledges the obstacles ahead but remains focused on Manchester City’s objectives.
