The fourth round FA Cup matches of the weekend will conclude this evening, and there’s hope that one Chelsea player will get a chance to play.

Chelsea had a rough transfer window, but they managed to complete a few moves.

The transfer window closed a couple of weeks ago, and it turned out to be quite uneventful and odd for Chelsea. They made only one signing, a player expected to serve as a deep backup option for the season and likely go out on loan in the summer.

Apart from that, Chelsea loaned several players, with Cesare Casadei being the only permanent departure, joining Torino.

One of the players loaned out was Ben Chilwell, who, despite being Chelsea’s vice-captain just last season, was frozen out and poorly treated by the club.

Now at Crystal Palace, Chilwell seems set to make his debut for the club tonight against Doncaster.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner commented on Friday: “We can’t expect Ben Chilwell to play 90 minutes. We can’t expect Adam Wharton to play 90 minutes. But it’s possible they’ll feature. Romain Esse might start, but again, there are a lot of factors we need to consider.

“I believe both are ready to start, but I don’t want to plan for both to potentially come off at half-time.

“My gut feeling tells me it’s not ideal to start both when neither is fit for 90 minutes – but perhaps on Sunday I’ll feel differently.

“We are weighing up many things, and we will decide at the latest time possible, which will be by Monday noon when we inform the players.”
