Joe Gomez’s injury struggles continue as he faces another setback. The England defender had to leave the field in the first half of Liverpool’s FA Cup match against Plymouth due to a suspected hamstring issue.

Gomez, who had previously missed 11 matches earlier this season due to a hamstring injury, was substituted in the 11th minute, with Isaac Mabaya coming on to replace him.

Given Gomez’s past history with hamstring injuries, there are concerns this could be another major setback.

During the match, ITV 1 footage showed Gomez avoiding sprinting back to cover a Plymouth counter-attack, although he walked off the field, which might suggest the issue isn’t too serious. Nevertheless, confirmation from manager Arne Slot after the match is awaited.
