Hansi Flick gives ‘positive’ Ronald Araujo injury update to Barcelona fans
Obodo 1 day ago 03 mins
Barcelona have received promising news about Ronald Araujo’s fitness after their 4-1 win against Sevilla.
After a 1-1 draw in the Madrid derby, La Blaugrana took advantage of the opportunity to close the title gap. Hansi Flick’s team now sits one point behind Atlético Madrid in second place and two points behind league leaders Real Madrid after 23 matches.
Barcelona delivered another dominant performance, with Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha among the goalscorers. However, the night wasn’t without its challenges, as Fermin Lopez was sent off and Araujo suffered an early injury.
Lopez, who had scored Barcelona’s second goal, initially received a yellow card, but after a VAR review, it was upgraded to a red. The Spanish midfielder now faces a suspension, which could last up to three games, depending on La Liga’s ruling.
Hansi Flick addressed concerns about Ronald Araujo’s injury right after Barcelona’s 4-1 victory over Sevilla, confirming that the defender will undergo tests in the coming days to assess the severity of the issue.
Araujo was forced to leave the field in the 22nd minute, raising concerns among Barcelona supporters, but Flick remains hopeful. “We expect the test results tomorrow, and we hope it’s not too serious. That’s what it seems like right now,” he told Marca.
Initial signs indicate that Araujo could be out for a short period, making him questionable for Barcelona’s next home game against a strong Rayo Vallecano team on February 17.
Eric Garcia, who replaced Araujo and scored Barcelona’s fourth goal, is expected to step in during the Uruguayan’s absence.
Flick also commented on Fermin Lopez’s red card, saying that the young midfielder will learn from the experience, as it was the first time he had been sent off in his career.
