There is growing speculation regarding Real Madrid’s upcoming transfer market, with Florian Vertz and Jeremy Frimpong seemingly high on the list of priorities for Chapi Alonso’s potential plans.

Some observers suggest that the left-back from Bayer Leverkusen could be a favored choice if Alonso takes over the team’s management on July 1, 2025. Depending on the future of Carlo Ancelotti and the current state of the squad, the club is expected to look for reinforcements in certain areas in the near future.

Although various players have been linked to Real Madrid, the club seems to be focusing on strengthening the left-back position.

In this context, Alejandro Grimaldo, a 29-year-old who has impressed under Xabi Alonso’s guidance, is playing for Bayer Leverkusen. Grimaldo, who had previously been with Barcelona, has shown significant growth in Germany and is now regarded as a potential target for Santiago Bernabéu, especially as the chances of signing Alphonso Davies diminish.

Grimaldo has openly stated on several occasions that he dreams of playing in Spain, acknowledging that Real Madrid is one of the best clubs in the world, and he would not be opposed to joining them in the future.

However, a transfer to Real Madrid is not straightforward. Given the club’s financial policies, his transfer fee is expected to be at least 40 million euros, which may pose a challenge considering the club’s budget.

Additionally, Grimaldo would face competition from other left-backs like Ferland Mendy, Fran García, and Miguel Gutiérrez, all of whom provide alternative options in that position.

Nonetheless, Xabi Alonso’s admiration for Grimaldo, whether in Germany or Madrid, could influence the club’s decision-making if the Basque manager chooses to return to Spain.
