Fulham coach Marco Silva expressed frustration after Manchester United’s 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage on January 27, 2025. Silva acknowledged that while United didn’t deserve to win, one player in particular stood out, causing him distress. He described this player as the best on the pitch during the match.

United, under coach Ruben Amorim, were struggling to find form, having just one win in their previous three league games. Their first half performance was lackluster, with few opportunities created. However, they found some luck in the second half when a long-range shot by Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez deflected into the net, securing the win for United in the 78th minute.

Young substitute Toby Collyer’s crucial clearance off the line in the dying moments and Fulham’s missed opportunities kept United ahead. Despite dominating the game, Fulham couldn’t capitalize, with striker Rodrigo Muniz squandering two late chances to equalize. Amad Diallo thought he had sealed the win in stoppage time, but his goal was ruled offside after a VAR review.

The victory lifted United to 12th place in the standings, just four points behind 10th-placed Fulham. Silva felt that Fulham had controlled much of the match and deserved more from the game. He also reflected on the importance of hard work for Fulham to start getting favorable outcomes.
