In a thrilling encounter at the Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid showcased their trademark resilience and skill, defeating Mallorca 3-1 to secure a spot in the final. The match, held at a neutral venue in Saudi Arabia, saw the Madridistas dominate possession and create numerous chances early on.
Mallorca, however, refused to be intimidated, and they tested Madrid’s defense with some dangerous counter-attacks. In the 18th minute, Mallorca took an unexpected lead, as a long ball over the top found their forward unmarked in the box, and a cool finish put them ahead 1-0.
Real Madrid responded swiftly. In the 33rd minute, it was their talismanic striker, Karim Benzema, who equalized, heading in a precise cross from Vinícius Jr. Madrid’s attacking trio of Benzema, Vinícius, and Rodrygo proved to be a nightmare for Mallorca’s defense, with quick combinations and intricate passing that left their opponents scrambling.
The second half saw Madrid turn up the intensity, with a brilliant goal from Rodrygo in the 56th minute, which gave Madrid the lead for the first time in the match. The Brazilian winger collected a pass from Toni Kroos, danced around a defender, and curled the ball into the top corner to send the Madrid supporters into a frenzy.
With Mallorca pushing for an equalizer, Real Madrid sealed the victory in the 76th minute, as a well-timed assist from Luka Modrić found Benzema in the box, and the French striker made no mistake in finishing the chance for his second of the match.
The final whistle blew, and Real Madrid celebrated their hard-fought 3-1 victory. The win meant they would face their eternal rivals, Barcelona, in the final. The Madridistas were filled with confidence, knowing they had earned their spot in the highly anticipated showdown, but also mindful of the fierce challenge awaiting them in the form of Barça. The stage was set for a thrilling El Clásico in the Spanish Super Cup final.
