Chelsea’s Premier League title chase hit another roadblock following a frustrating goalless draw against Everton at Goodison Park. The result leaves the Blues four points behind Liverpool, who extended their lead with a 6-3 triumph over Tottenham later that day.
Despite dominating possession and creating clear chances, Chelsea’s lack of clinical finishing proved costly. Striker Nicolas Jackson missed two key opportunities, continuing a worrying trend of underperformance, with just one goal in his last three matches.
Chelsea’s failure to secure a top-tier striker during the summer transfer window, including the collapse of a deal for Spanish forward Samu Aghehowa, has further exposed their attacking frailties. Aghehowa, now thriving at Porto, has netted 16 goals this season, showcasing the finishing quality Chelsea sorely lacks.
With the January transfer window nearing, Chelsea is targeting Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap to address their scoring struggles. The 21-year-old has impressed with six goals in his debut Premier League campaign, demonstrating efficiency and an ability to exceed expectations.
Talks are reportedly underway, with Delap open to the move. Securing his signature could provide Chelsea with the attacking spark needed to reignite their title ambitions.
