Cole Palmer sets remarkable Premier League record with ice cold panenka vs Tottenham

Cole Palmer produced yet another stunning display as he broke two records during Chelsea’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.
On Sunday afternoon, Chelsea visited the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face their London rivals Spurs in what was expected to be a thrilling Premier League encounter.
Spurs took a 2-0 lead through goals from Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski, but Jadon Sancho reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 17th minute.
In the second half, Palmer equalized from the penalty spot after Yves Bissouma fouled Moises Caicedo, who was fortunate to avoid being sent off.
With 73 minutes played, Enzo Fernandez volleyed home to complete Chelsea’s comeback, following excellent work by Palmer on the right-hand side.
The Englishman then scored his second penalty in the 84th minute, making it 4-2 for Enzo Maresca’s side.
Palmer’s first spot-kick saw him break a Chelsea record held by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for 23 years. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared on social media: “Cole Palmer makes Chelsea history with record PL goal contributions (37) in one year! Palmer breaks Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Chelsea club record, been there for 23 years.”
Since Romano’s post, Palmer added another goal and assist, raising the tally to 39 contributions.
Palmer also set a Premier League record with his second penalty. Statman Dave noted: “Cole Palmer has now scored 12/12 penalties he has taken in the Premier League, the most of any player with a 100% record in Premier League history.”
Jamie Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, praised Palmer: “Of course it’s a penalty. You could see it happening. I said in the first half how naive this Tottenham team are. It’s just not working. The decision-making from some of these players. Academy players wouldn’t do that. What a signing he’s been and what a penalty. It’s brilliant. He is coolness personified.”
Son Heung-min scored in stoppage time to make it 4-3, but Chelsea held on for a crucial victory.
With this win, Chelsea moved to second place in the Premier League table, four points behind leaders Liverpool.
