Ruben Amorim has made giving a certain Manchester United player a new contract a ‘priority’, according to reports.

Rúben Amorim, 39, marked his first Premier League game as Manchester United manager with a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford. While Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee stole the spotlight with two goals each, it was 22-year-old winger Amad who caught the new coach’s eye with a standout performance.

Amad contributed two assists, including a key play where he dispossessed Jarrad Branthwaite, leading to Bruno Fernandes setting up Zirkzee’s first goal. After the match, Amorim praised the Ivorian’s talent and work ethic, acknowledging the role of former coach Ruud van Nistelrooy in Amad’s development.

“He’s really big in talent, but small in size,” Amorim remarked. “He did a great job, but he also has to improve. Ruud helped him a lot in his games in charge, and now he’s helping me. I just take advantage of Ruud’s work with Amad! He was excellent defensively and offensively, but we need to manage his fitness to increase his physical capacity.”

Amad has started two Premier League games under Amorim, against Ipswich and Everton, and made a substitute appearance in the Europa League against Bodo/Glimt. Since joining United in January 2021, he has had loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland before establishing himself as a first-team regular.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season, United reportedly hold an option to extend it by another year. According to *The Telegraph*, discussions about his future are expected soon, as a decision must be made before January to avoid him negotiating a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs starting in 2025. While no official confirmation of talks has been made, fans will be eager for the club to secure Amad’s services long-term if his impressive form continues.
