Real Madrid ‘interested’ in shock Man Utd star that could completely derail Ruben Amorim’s plans

Real Madrid are ‘interested’ in a Man United defender, according to reports.
Real Madrid have been grappling with a series of injuries that have severely impacted their defensive options, with key players Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, and David Alaba all sidelined due to cruciate ligament injuries. In response, Carlo Ancelotti has been forced to field midfielders and young players in defensive roles.
In last week’s 2-0 Champions League loss to Liverpool at Anfield, Federico Valverde was deployed as a right-back, while 21-year-old Raul Asencio partnered Antonio Rudiger in central defense. However, Los Blancos bounced back with a solid 2-0 victory over city rivals Getafe on Sunday, thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé. The win brought them within one point of La Liga leaders Barcelona, but defensive vulnerabilities remain a pressing concern, especially against top Champions League opponents.
As a result, Madrid are reportedly eyeing Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot as a potential solution. Dalot, United’s Players’ Player of the Year for 2023/24, has been a key figure at the club since joining from Porto in 2018. The 25-year-old has featured prominently under new United manager Ruben Amorim, starting both Premier League games this season. His accolades include winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time at Old Trafford.
According to reports from Spanish outlet *Relevo*, Real Madrid have initiated contact with Dalot’s representatives regarding a possible move. United are said to be open to discussions starting at a fee of €50 million (£41 million), though no official negotiations between the clubs have been confirmed. Dalot is currently under contract with United until June 2028.
Despite playing in a struggling United team for much of his career, Dalot has earned praise for his consistency and professionalism. Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo highlighted Dalot’s potential during his 2022 interview with *Piers Morgan Uncensored*, describing him as “young, intelligent, and very professional” and predicting a long and successful career for the full-back.
Madrid’s interest in Dalot reflects their urgent need for defensive reinforcements as they aim to strengthen their squad for domestic and European challenges.
