Liverpool secured an important 2-0 victory over Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday evening in the final match of the fifth round of the Champions League group stage.
With this win, Liverpool topped the group standings with a perfect record of 15 points, while Real Madrid remained at 6 points, sitting in 24th place. This result marked Madrid’s third defeat in the Champions League this season, following losses to Lille and AC Milan, complicating their hopes of advancing directly from the top 8.
According to Spanish newspaper *Defensa Central*, one of the most frustrated players in the Real Madrid camp was Fede Valverde, who reportedly started criticizing key players even before the match had concluded.
Valverde pointed the finger at French star Kylian Mbappé, blaming him for the team’s loss to Liverpool and their other recent defeats. The Uruguayan midfielder cited missed opportunities, including a penalty that could have turned the game around, as major reasons for Madrid’s struggles.
The report indicated that Valverde’s criticism was so intense that coach Carlo Ancelotti had to step in to separate the players. Despite this, Valverde allegedly continued to express his discontent, suggesting that Mbappé should be excluded from the squad for upcoming matches.
The atmosphere within the team is said to be tense, and it appears that Ancelotti may be losing control over the dressing room.
