LDC: the surprising reaction of Carlo Ancelotti after the slap received against Liverpool

On Wednesday, Real Madrid were highly anticipated for their clash against Liverpool on the 5th day of the Champions League.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side failed to live up to expectations in their clash against the formidable Liverpool team, displaying a lack of offensive presence and struggling overall. The defeat underscored that Real Madrid still has a long way to go before they can truly compete with Europe’s elite this season. Nevertheless, Ancelotti’s post-match comments to Canal+ were surprising.
Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said, “I think the team delivered a good performance. We were competitive and fought hard. Right now, it’s the toughest stage to play against, as they are in excellent form. We are disappointed by the defeat. The standings were already complicated, but we will give everything we can to qualify.”
He continued to praise the team’s efforts, stating, “I appreciated the team’s attitude. We played well against one of the toughest opponents in Europe. The game plan was solid, and we executed it as intended. The first half was successful, with strong collective defense and good transitions. However, we made some poor choices in the final moments. If we had converted the penalty, things could have been different. Despite this, we played well and will continue to improve. Our goal remains to be among the top 24 teams and to always compete at the highest level.”
