Hansi Flick tells Deco to sign this deal in January or there will be a big problem l

Barcelona’s 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo at Balaídos has exposed significant concerns for coach Hansi Flick, particularly in the left-back position. With Alejandro Balde sidelined by injury, the team was left vulnerable on the wing, a weakness that became apparent early on. Gerard Martín, a young academy player, was given a chance but struggled significantly. Within three minutes, he received a yellow card that affected his confidence, and his errors created dangerous situations for the team. Flick replaced him at halftime, but by then, the damage was done.
The lack of a reliable backup for Balde has become a pressing issue. Hector Fort, another reserve team prospect, has also failed to impress Flick during training and in limited opportunities. His struggles to adapt to the left-back role, which is not his natural position, have left Barcelona exposed in a critical area.
According to *El Nacional*, Flick has made his concerns clear to Deco, urging the sporting director to secure a left-back during the January transfer window. The coach is adamant that without reinforcements, the team will face significant challenges, particularly in high-stakes competitions like the Champions League, where even minor mistakes can be costly.
The club’s management has already started exploring potential solutions. While Alphonso Davies was an initial target, his high valuation and importance to Bayern Munich make him unattainable. Barcelona is now focused on more affordable options, considering Financial Fair Play constraints.
Pervis Estupiñán of Brighton is one standout candidate, though his price could prove challenging. Another option is Javi Galán, who is currently struggling for minutes at Atlético Madrid and may welcome a move for more opportunities. Barcelona is also evaluating young players from smaller leagues, but immediate experience and reliability are the primary considerations.
With January approaching, the urgency to address this issue is clear. Flick is determined to avoid any excuses, stressing that failure to sign a left-back could jeopardize the team’s title ambitions. The responsibility now falls on Deco to act decisively and secure a player who can restore balance and stability to the squad.
