Ruben Amorim says he already ‘loves’ Man Utd star and believes he will thrive under his tactics

Ruben Amorim is already in ‘love’ with a Manchester United star and has revealed that he has ‘two positions’ for him in his system.
Ruben Amorim led his first Manchester United training sessions this week and will take charge of his debut match against Ipswich Town on Sunday.
In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Amorim expressed admiration for Mason Mount, praising the midfielder’s determination and potential.
“Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid,” Amorim said to the club’s official website. “You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.
“I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he’s trying to stay fit, and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he’s shown, for example, in Chelsea.”
Amorim believes Mount is well-suited to his tactical system, adding: “He played in this system [before], so it’s perfect for him. I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!”
Mount has struggled this season, making just six appearances across all competitions due to recurring injuries. However, he returned to full training earlier this month and could play a key role under Amorim’s management.
The Portuguese coach might deploy a 3-4-3 formation, which has been widely discussed ahead of the Ipswich match. However, Amorim emphasized that team principles and identity matter more than formations.
“A lot of people talk about the 3-4-3 and the 4-3-3 and all that stuff,” Amorim explained. “But when I think as a player or as a team-mate of Manchester United, it is not a system or formation, it’s like the character of the players, the way they see the club.
“So, we have to focus on that before everything—how we play, how we press. The most important thing for me at this moment is to create the principles, the identity, and the character that we had in the past.”
