Chelsea fans want one player benched despite victory over Leicester City

Chelsea fans were not happy with one of their players on the back of his performance against Leicester City.

After the international break, domestic football resumed with Chelsea visiting the King Power Stadium to face newly-promoted Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea took an early lead when Nicolas Jackson scored in the 15th minute. The visitors doubled their advantage in the second half, with Enzo Fernandez heading in to make it 2-0.

Despite the victory, Chelsea fans expressed frustration with winger Noni Madueke’s performance. The 22-year-old struggled to make an impact, having a goal disallowed for offside and inadvertently blocking a goal-bound shot from Cole Palmer, resulting in a Leicester goal kick. Fans voiced their displeasure on social media, with one questioning, “What is Madueke still doing on the pitch?” Another commented, “Madueke needs to chill and calm it down,” while others suggested he might lose his starting spot after the match.

Madueke was eventually substituted in the 85th minute, with Jadon Sancho replacing him. In stoppage time, Leicester were awarded a penalty after Bobby Decordova-Reid was fouled by Romeo Lavia. Jordan Ayew converted to make it 2-1, but Chelsea held on for the win.

The result keeps Chelsea in third place in the Premier League, three points ahead of Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Brighton, with other weekend fixtures yet to be played. The Blues will next face Heidenheim on Thursday in the UEFA Conference League.
