The rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester City may take an unexpected twist as Pep Guardiola is reportedly monitoring Brentford defender Sepp van den Berg. According to *footballtransfers.com*, Guardiola has kept an eye on the Dutch centre-back since his Liverpool days, particularly after a standout performance during a 2021 pre-season friendly.
Van den Berg, who left Liverpool this summer after struggling to secure consistent playing time, has been impressing at Brentford. Despite the reported interest, a move to Manchester City would be surprising, given the circumstances of his recent departure and City’s depth in defense.
