BREAKING NEWS: live from Anfield, “He’s good but not the kind of player I want to work with, his work rate is poor and I can’t cope with him. According to Reports, slot feels the 21-year-old is the right profile of player they need to bolster the club for the upcoming window, both in technical ability and mentality. Liverpool is reportedly leading the race for Eredivisie forward Ricardo Pepi, who could be viewed as a potential successor to Darwin Nunez. The American striker, who has caught the attention of major clubs like Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, could potentially make his way to Anfield as early as next year, as per CaughtOffside.

The report mentions that Borussia Dortmund is also closely monitoring Pepi, but Liverpool has taken the initiative in progressing discussions with European clubs. With Mohamed Salah yet to commit to a new contract and Nunez struggling to find consistency, Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, appears to be tapping into talent from his native Netherlands for promising attacking options. Pepi, a PSV center-forward, could reportedly be available for around €25 million—a fee that fits well with Liverpool’s ambition to bring in a young forward with the technical ability and mentality to strengthen their lineup.

At 21, Pepi has shown his potential this season, scoring seven goals in 16 matches. Previously linked to Manchester United in December 2021, Pepi’s stock has since risen considerably. Within Liverpool, figures like Michael Edwards reportedly believe that Pepi’s profile matches the club’s current needs.

Salah’s uncertain future remains a pivotal factor in Liverpool’s plans. His contract at Anfield is set to expire in 2025, and while speculation about a move to Saudi Arabia continues, Masrawy reports that Salah’s preference is to remain in top-tier European competition. PSG is currently viewed as the most likely destination, although Barcelona has shown interest as well, having previously attempted to sign him in 2022.

Salah’s contract extension brings additional challenges. Reports suggest Salah would be open to renewing his contract with Liverpool but is seeking a three-year deal, which complicates negotiations given his age. This has heightened interest from foreign clubs. Over the summer, Saudi Arabia even made a record-breaking offer, while Barcelona and PSG continue to keep a close eye on his situation.

If Salah were to depart on a free transfer, PSG appears the best-positioned club to secure him, though Barcelona might also consider him an attractive option. Both clubs are closely tracking Salah, making his future one of the most closely followed situations in football.
