Bruno Fernandes reveals why Alejandro Garnacho refused to celebrate Man Utd goal as fans left concerned

Ruud van Nistelrooy wrapped up his interim tenure at Manchester United with a convincing win, featuring goals from Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, and an own goal by Leicester’s Victor Kristiansen. Garnacho, who came off the bench in the 57th minute to replace Marcus Rashford, scored a brilliant seventh goal of the season, curling a strike into the top corner after receiving a pass from Fernandes.
However, Garnacho chose not to celebrate, a decision many believe was influenced by recent criticism from fans. He had faced backlash from a supporter who advised him to improve aspects of his game, including his first touch and scoring ability. After the match, captain Fernandes was seen speaking with Garnacho, offering support and encouragement. Amad Diallo also joined to show camaraderie.
In a post-match interview with the BBC, Fernandes explained Garnacho’s reaction: “Garnacho scored a banger but didn’t celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans. I told him people will always moan, but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.” Fernandes encouraged Garnacho to embrace his unique talent and reminded him of his importance to the team.
This season, Garnacho has provided 11 goal contributions for United, who moved up to 13th in the league table following the victory. As United prepares for a new era under incoming manager Ruben Amorim, set to take over on November 11, the team’s recent performances offer hope for continued improvement.
