Barcelona Eyes Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres, Considers Swap Deal to Secure Europe’s Top Striker

Barcelona is reportedly setting its sights on signing Viktor Gyökeres, the prolific Swedish striker from Sporting Lisbon, as the club aims to add firepower to its attack. Under the leadership of new coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona has started the season on an exceptional note, dominating La Liga and making waves in European competitions. Flick, determined to restore Barcelona’s glory on both the European and international stages, is keen to bring in top-tier talent and has identified Gyökeres as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski.

According to reports from the Spanish newspaper *Sport*, Gyökeres is valued by Sporting Lisbon at around 100 million euros, but Barcelona believes a deal could be struck for between 60 and 70 million euros. Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, sees the Swedish forward as an ideal long-term addition to the squad, envisioning him as a central piece in Barcelona’s future attack.

To make the deal feasible, Barcelona is reportedly exploring an exchange option that would involve sending Brazilian forward Vitor Roque to Sporting Lisbon as part of the transfer package for Gyökeres. Roque, currently on loan at Real Betis from Barcelona, has already drawn interest from Sporting Lisbon, who were keen to sign him last summer for around 30 million euros. However, Roque opted for a loan move instead, with hopes of eventually returning to Barcelona.

This potential swap deal not only reduces the financial burden on Barcelona but also offers Sporting Lisbon a young, talented forward to reinforce their squad. The Catalan club is hopeful that this approach could satisfy both clubs, allowing them to secure a deal without having to pay Gyökeres’ full valuation.

Flick is reportedly enthusiastic about Gyökeres joining the Blaugrana, viewing him as an ideal fit for Barcelona’s dynamic playstyle. Known for his powerful runs, technical skills, and clinical finishing, Gyökeres has the qualities Barcelona needs to build a strong, balanced attack for years to come.
