The 32-year-old forward, now Liverpool’s top earner at over £350,000 a week, is in the final year of his contract.

After scoring in Liverpool’s impressive 3-0 win over Manchester United in September, Salah shared that he approached the game as if it might be his last at Old Trafford. “I was thinking, ‘this could be the last time’,” he told Sky Sports. “No one from the club has discussed contracts with me yet, so my focus is on this season, and we’ll see what happens afterward. I feel free to play football—we’ll see what next year brings.”

Despite constant speculation about his future, Salah has been in outstanding form this season, netting nine goals as Liverpool remains competitive across all tournaments. He scored the decisive goal against Brighton, helping the team reclaim the Premier League’s top spot.

However, his social media comment after the win—“no matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like”—sparked a strong response from fans.

Reactions included: “The last sentence feels like a subtle goodbye,” and “Reading this hurts—don’t tell me you’re leaving, king.” Others shared their admiration, with one saying, “You will always be the greatest player of this generation for this club,” while another simply commented, “He’s gone.”
