Ruben Amorim has indicated that his potential transfer to Manchester United is still uncertain. Sporting CP announced on Tuesday that United intends to pay €10 million to activate the Portuguese manager’s release clause, following Erik ten Hag’s anticipated departure from Old Trafford. Although Ten Hag received a contract extension in July, his position weakened due to a series of underwhelming performances, leaving United at a historical low in the Premier League.

On Monday, United officially parted ways with Ten Hag, with the team currently sitting in 14th place in the league. Amorim, the manager of Sporting, quickly became the top candidate to replace him after demonstrating his talents in Liga Portugal.

However, Amorim stated that his future with United is still not settled, stressing that he will make a decision based on his personal aspirations. At a press conference on Tuesday, he remarked, “Pay attention to the club’s announcement; that’s all there is for now. Manchester United is interested in triggering my release clause, and once something definitive arises, I’ll decide. Ultimately, it will be my decision, as long as all aspects are not completely sorted out.”

He added, “I will follow my own path, just as I have always done as a player and manager. At this moment, no decision has been reached.”
