Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could make stunning return to manage Man Utd as formal approach stance revealed

Manchester United has not dismissed the possibility of reaching out to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a return to the club following Erik ten Hag’s exit, according to reports.

Ten Hag departed earlier on Monday after more than two years in charge, with his final match resulting in a 2-1 loss to West Ham on Sunday, marked by a contentious late penalty awarded to the Hammers.

Ten Hag took over the managerial role in the summer of 2022, succeeding Solskjaer after Ralf Rangnick served as interim manager during the latter part of the 2021/22 season.

The Manchester Evening News notes that senior club officials are concerned that the compensation owed to Ten Hag may limit their options in the search for a new manager. Consequently, the possibility of re-engaging Solskjaer, who has been out of management since his dismissal in November 2021, remains a viable option.

However, it remains uncertain whether United would consider bringing Solskjaer back as a member of the coaching staff or as a replacement for Ten Hag.

Additionally, Danish outlet Tipsbladet reported last month that Solskjaer declined an offer to manage the Denmark men’s national team, as he was in discussions with an unnamed “big club.”
