Jarrod Bowen netted a penalty in injury time, securing a 2-1 win for West Ham against Manchester United and easing some of the pressure on manager Julen Lopetegui.

Casemiro appeared to have equalized for United with a header less than ten minutes before the end, leveling the score after Crysencio Summerville had opened the scoring in the 74th minute.

However, United faced frustration when referee David Coote was prompted by the Video Assistant Referee to review Matthijs de Ligt’s challenge on Danny Ings in the penalty area with just three minutes remaining.

Despite protests from United players regarding a handball by Ings, Coote awarded the penalty, which Bowen confidently converted, placing it past Andre Onana.

While United dominated possession and created several chances in the first half at the London Stadium, they struggled to finish and lamented their missed opportunities.

After a lackluster opening half, West Ham stepped up their performance in the second half, launching multiple attacks on United’s goal and ultimately scoring when Summerville redirected Ings’ mis-hit shot into the net.
