Arteta is still struggling with the winning mentality, which was a challenge when he worked with me. I’m not trying to criticize him, but his current approach could cost Arsenal significantly. I genuinely want him to succeed once I leave the Premier League,” Pep Guardiola commented on the factors that could lead Arteta to falter in the league again.

Mikel Arteta has indicated that he will continue to gradually introduce teenager Ethan Nwaneri into the first team, despite supporters urging for the midfielder to be included in the starting lineup.

Calls for Nwaneri intensified following Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday, where Arteta opted for a conservative strategy that lacked a natural playmaker due to the absences of Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka.

Mikel Merino made his first start for the club in an unusual role, joining the primary pressing line alongside Kai Havertz. Nwaneri made a brief appearance towards the end of the match, showcasing flashes of his unique talent.

With Ødegaard still unavailable and Nwaneri’s promising performances for the senior team, there has been a strong push for the teenager to have a more significant role in the upcoming weeks.

Arteta has a prime opportunity to give Nwaneri his second start when Shakhtar Donetsk visits for Matchday 3 of the Champions League. However, he has remained cautious about fully integrating Nwaneri.

“It’s about recognizing the right moments, understanding his position, the team’s situation, and when it’s best to introduce a player,” Arteta explained regarding Nwaneri’s potential involvement in Monday’s pre-match press conference.

“He has already accomplished a lot in a short time, so we should proceed step by step to ensure his development aligns with our goals.”

The record-breaking teenager has had limited opportunities in the Premier League, making three brief appearances, but he did start in a 5-1 victory over League One Bolton in the Carabao Cup, scoring twice.

While Nwaneri isn’t expected to take on a major role during a challenging series of matches against teams like Liverpool, Inter, Newcastle, and Chelsea, he has demonstrated that he can compete effectively against teams like Shakhtar.

Although Arteta’s cautious approach is understandable, many fans would be disappointed if Nwaneri is only given another brief chance on Tuesday night. It’s time to unleash the young talent!
