Nico Williams’s agents explain why Athletic Club star didn’t leave for Barcelona

Nico Williams was a sought-after player in Catalunya over the summer as Barcelona aimed to acquire the Athletic Club forward. Ultimately, he chose to remain with Athletic Club, with his agents stating that he wanted another year with the Basque team.
“The lad had an incredible year and proved it by being the standout player in the European Championships,” said Félix Tainta and Juan Oyaga in an interview with AS.
“There’s been a lot of movement and travel, which can be overwhelming at times, especially as the transfer window closes, but we enjoy it. The boy has made his choice to stay; he wanted to continue working with the club for another year.”
Williams will be with Athletic for the 2024-25 season, but speculation may arise again next summer, as there are already rumors that Barcelona will pursue him once more.
