Marcus Rashford to Barcelona?! Hansi Flick ‘requests’ transfer swoop for Man Utd winger after failed Nico Williams pursuit

Hansi Flick has reportedly requested that Barcelona sign Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford after his attempts to acquire Nico Williams from Athletic Club fell through. Flick, who has stressed the importance of a left winger who can both score and dribble, initially set his sights on Williams following the player’s standout performances during Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph. However, Athletic Club appears hesitant to part with their star this summer.

With Williams unlikely to join, Barcelona is now considering other options, including Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and, more unexpectedly, Rashford. GOL Sport journalist Albert Fernandez claims that Flick has specifically asked for the English winger.

Rashford, 26, had a challenging season last year, netting only eight goals and providing six assists across all competitions. His decline in form resulted in his omission from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024. Although he has participated in Manchester United’s two matches this season, his performances have not been impressive.

Barcelona has yet to make an official offer, and it remains uncertain whether they will pursue this transfer before the window closes. Rashford is expected to play next for Manchester United in their Premier League match against Brighton.
