Thomas Tuchel reveals why he turned down Manchester United
Manchester United may come to regret not hiring Thomas Tuchel, who is now the coach of another English team. The 51-year-old was officially appointed on Wednesday, despite being widely speculated to take over at the Red Devils. When questioned about his choice to join this new club rather than Manchester United, the former PSG coach sidestepped the issue.
“The approach from Mark Bullingham and John McDermott was very persuasive, confident, and direct. I chose this role, not as a rejection of anyone else,” he remarked at a press conference in England.
It’s worth noting that Tuchel was anticipated to sign with Manchester United this summer, but the club opted for Erik ten Hag instead. Ten Hag is currently under scrutiny due to a poor start to the season, and with the Red Devils sitting 14th in the Premier League, the club may regret their choice, especially if Ten Hag is let go and Tuchel becomes unavailable.
