Erik ten Hag believes the Manchester United management should have communicated their intentions regarding his potential dismissal by now.

The team managed a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park, leaving them winless in five matches and with just seven points from their first seven league games—marking their worst start to a Premier League season and placing them 14th in the standings.

Co-chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe, CEO Omar Berrada, sports director Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox, and football board member Sir Dave Brailsford were all present at the match. Ratcliffe did not publicly endorse Ten Hag on Friday, and the Dutchman plans to discuss the situation with the management in the coming days.

“I have no idea what has changed,” Ten Hag stated when asked about his future, “because they should have informed me. We have always communicated openly and transparently.

“I engage with them regularly, and right after the match, I have to do my job, interact with the players, and respond to your questions. We consistently talk. I would say we communicate every week, if not daily, so I expect to speak with them.

“I think you summed it up well: external noise. Internally, we are not satisfied; we understand the need to improve, especially in terms of scoring goals. This reflects the outcome of several games where we have not met expectations.”
