Liverpool might be without Federico Chiesa for their upcoming match against Crystal Palace on Saturday as they travel to London for the Premier League’s early kick-off. Under Arne Slot, the team has effectively carried on Jurgen Klopp’s legacy, reaching the top of the table with 15 points and looking to extend their unbeaten streak to five matches against Oliver Glasner’s side.
To secure another three points at Selhurst Park, they will likely have to manage without Chiesa, who arrived from Juventus for £12.5 million. Slot noted, “He hasn’t trained the last few days. He’s still a doubt for the Crystal Palace match,” during a statement to Hayters TV. Chiesa’s recent injury concerns are expected to worry fans, especially given the risks associated with his signing. The 26-year-old has a troubling injury history, having been sidelined for nearly a year at Juventus due to an ACL tear two and a half years ago. Nevertheless, Slot is dedicated to supporting the struggling Italian and intends to exclude him from the matchday squad for Saturday’s fixture. He hopes Chiesa will be fit to return for the match against Chelsea after the upcoming international break.
