Zinedine Zidane names the three things that must happen at Man Utd before he takes job

Zinedine Zidane has outlined the three essential conditions that must be met at Manchester United for him to consider taking on the managerial role.

Following a disappointing second season, Erik ten Hag is under increasing scrutiny. This uncertainty has led to speculation about several high-profile managers, including Zidane, being linked to the position at Old Trafford.

The legendary French coach has been without a job since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. During his two terms at the club where he once played, he achieved remarkable success, winning the Champions League three times in a row from 2016 to 2018 and later securing a La Liga title in 2020.

Zidane returned to Madrid this past weekend for a legends match against Porto, where he reflected on his departure almost three years ago.

“I know football and I know the demands of a club like Madrid,” Zidane stated, according to Marca.

“I understand that when you don’t win, you must leave, but an important aspect has been overlooked—everything I built day-to-day has been forgotten, including my relationships with the players and the support staff of around one hundred fifty people.”

The future of Ten Hag is still unclear, especially with new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe questioning whether he is the right person to restore United to prominence in English football. Zidane emphasized three critical factors necessary for long-term success at a club, suggesting he would only consider the United job if these elements were ensured.

“I am a born winner and I was here to win trophies, but beyond that, people, emotions, and life matter.

“I feel that these aspects have not been appreciated; it has not been recognized that they are vital for maintaining the dynamics of a great club.

“I have even faced criticism for this perspective. Nowadays, a manager’s tenure at a top club typically lasts only two seasons, at best. For a longer tenure, human relationships are crucial—they outweigh money, fame, and everything else.”
