GRAB HIM AT ANY COST: Liverpool now eyeing ‘ONE OF THE BEST STRIKERS IN THE WORLD’, he has 9 g/a this season

According to reports from Italy, Liverpool has entered the fray alongside Arsenal, Inter Milan, and Juventus to acquire Jonathan David, a Lille forward whose contract has less than a year remaining.
InterLive states that Liverpool is keen to secure the talented striker and may soon offer him a five-year deal totaling £20.8 million in wages, allowing them to sign him for free next summer.
David is likely seeking a new challenge, positioning Inter as the favorites to sign him in 2025, making a renewal with Lille seem unlikely.
During the recent transfer window, there was considerable speculation about David leaving Ligue 1, although top European clubs showed limited interest.
In a recent interview with The Athletic, the Lille striker expressed he is “open to everything” as his contract nears its end, not prioritizing a move to the Premier League.
The Brooklyn native had an impressive season in Ligue 1, featuring in 47 matches and scoring 26 goals while providing nine assists.
David is reportedly “preparing an offer” to join Liverpool at Anfield. Often regarded as “one of the best strikers in the world,” the 24-year-old has continued his strong form into the new season, contributing to Lille’s return to the Champions League after three years.
In 11 matches this season across all competitions, he has already notched four goals and two assists, including four in the Champions League qualifiers.
David’s scoring ability would greatly enhance any top Premier League team, especially Liverpool, who have had a strong start under Arne Slot and currently lead the league after six matches.
Lille’s president Olivier Letang confirmed in June that David’s departure is likely, indicating the Canadian forward is open to leaving.
After acquiring David for a club-record £27 million from Gent in 2020, Lille is eager to capitalize on his potential transfer in January, though they may not see substantial profit with just six months left on his contract.
Reporter Ben Jacobs revealed exclusively to GIVEMESPORT that Liverpool will have the initial opportunity to negotiate a contract with Trent Alexander-Arnold before any other interested clubs.
With the England international’s current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Liverpool remains in a strong position to discuss his future.
Despite ongoing speculation linking Alexander-Arnold with a summer transfer to Real Madrid, Jacobs notes that he is still evaluating his options.
This season, the 25-year-old has been a key player for Arne Slot’s side, starting all six Premier League matches and providing one assist.
Data from Transfermarkt confirms these statistics as of October 1, 2024.
