A former Premier League striker has shared insider information regarding the future of a long-time Liverpool player, intensifying speculation about his possible exit. Mohamed Salah’s contract situation has been a frequent topic of discussion, particularly with only nine months remaining on his current deal and no signs of a new agreement.

In a talkSPORT Breakfast appearance, Gabriel Agbonlahor, a former Aston Villa striker, confidently claimed that Salah is set to move to Saudi Arabia next year to sign a record-breaking contract, positioning him as the highest-paid player in the league. Agbonlahor stated, “I know Salah’s going. I’ve got a source that told me Salah’s definitely going to Saudi, on a record contract. I’m hearing that he’ll earn more than [Cristiano] Ronaldo; he’ll be the face of football over there. You can’t turn that down if you’re Mo Salah. He’s done everything at Liverpool, hasn’t he?”

Despite Agbonlahor’s assertive comments, his statements should be approached with caution, especially given a recent angry response from Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa. Issa rejected claims from alleged ‘insiders,’ stating that “sources close to” Salah “don’t exist,” and any rumors of a move were “based on absolutely nothing.”

Agbonlahor is not the only former Premier League player suggesting Salah might leave Liverpool. Nedum Onuoha, a former Manchester City defender, has noted Salah’s body language as a possible sign of a departure in the summer of 2025.

While it’s true that clubs in the Saudi Pro League could present Salah with a lucrative offer, it’s important to recognize that the forward is still performing exceptionally well. His outstanding start to the season indicates he has much to contribute to top-tier football in Europe, and at 32, he is far from the end of his career.

Those predicting his exit in 2025 may be simply tired of witnessing Salah’s continued success, particularly as he frequently poses challenges for their favorite teams. Based on his current form, it appears the Egyptian King will likely continue to frustrate those hoping for his departure anytime soon.
