Man Utd duo ‘set to leave club’ in drastic move after draw with FC Twente

Manchester United is reportedly set to release not just one but two players at the end of the season following their 1-1 draw with Twente, with one possibly leaving as early as January.
Man United was held to an unsatisfactory draw in their first Europa League match of the season, where Sam Lammers equalized after Christian Eriksen had given them the lead, resulting in a surprise point for Twente at Old Trafford.
Following the match, Lammers made comments that surprised Man United fans regarding the outcome.
Erik ten Hag faced increased criticism, particularly for an incident involving one of his players during the game.
A new report suggests the club is planning further departures after a summer clearout.
According to Team Talk, Eriksen and Casemiro are “likely to depart at the end of the season.”
The Danish player could be sold as early as January, indicating the need for at least one new midfield signing, having already secured Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Eriksen, 32, joined the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 and has played 77 matches across all competitions.
However, a departure seems imminent, especially after a costly error against Twente.
Casemiro, also facing a potential exit, was the subject of significant transfer speculation over the summer but stayed at the club past the deadline.
Despite remaining at Old Trafford, his future appears uncertain.
Casemiro did not play against Twente, while Eriksen started the match.
After the game, Ten Hag remarked: “We are very ambitious, and with ambition, you need to perform and prove it.
“Today, especially in the second half, we were too complacent. We failed to finish the game, and as a team, you must bring it. Consistency is key; we dropped our level and conceded a goal. We can’t let Twente’s right-back dribble through our midfield without being challenged.
“We’ve seen again that you have to play for the entire match. Once you’re ahead, you must keep pushing for more goals.
“For Twente, this was their biggest game. They fought for every inch; we didn’t, and giving 99 percent is not enough—you have to give 100 percent. You need to finish the game and seal the victory.”
