I Don’t Believe He Can Turn Things Around At Manchester United, He Has Only Been Getting Worse At The Club. Especially In Their Last Match Against Crystal Palace, He Had Little To No Impact In The Game And He Has Been In The Club For A While Now, It’s Disappointing That He Has No Impacts In Game” – This Is According To Former English Footballer Joe Cole As He Advises Manchester United To Part Ways With Antony After Giving Verdict On The Underperforming Brazilian.
A former England player believes that Brazilian winger Antony may be leaving Old Trafford, as he struggles with the physical demands of the Premier League.
Joe Cole thinks Antony’s tenure at Manchester United might be coming to an end due to his inability to adapt to the league’s intensity.
Despite being an £82 million signing from Ajax, Antony is now in his third season but has not yet made a significant impact, having only appeared briefly in one league match this season, as a substitute in the 2-1 loss to Brighton last month.
He has fallen behind players like Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Amad, becoming more of a peripheral figure.
Cole noted, “The issue with Antony at Manchester United is that he’s ideal for the Dutch league.”
Cole believes that while Antony possesses talent, technique, and skill, he has difficulty with the Premier League’s physicality.
Although Antony performed well and scored a penalty in Manchester United’s 7-0 Carabao Cup win against Barnsley, Cole doubts he will have a significant role in the starting lineup this season.
The 24-year-old has not played in United’s last three Premier League matches, remaining an unused substitute, including during the goalless draw against Crystal Palace when the team needed a spark.
Cole questions whether Antony can improve his situation at Manchester United.
Antony was also omitted from Manchester United’s Community Shield loss to Manchester City and their opening day defeat to Fulham.
In an interview with Paddy Power, Cole stated: “I think Antony is playing with the idea of a move away from the club in mind, and I believe United will move on from him.
He’s still young and should be entering his prime soon, but I think he’s better suited to other leagues.”
