Man United fans think ‘game completely changed’ after one Erik ten Hag decision in Crystal Palace draw

Manchester United supporters believe a crucial decision by manager Erik ten Hag changed the outcome of their match against Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils missed the opportunity to achieve consecutive Premier League victories, ending the game in a 0-0 stalemate with a resolute Palace team at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.

Despite controlling possession and generating several scoring opportunities, United could not find the net.

On the other hand, Oliver Glasner’s side also had chances to claim the win, with Eberechi Eze missing two key opportunities.

In the second half, Ten Hag made substitutions to try to shift the game, introducing Marcus Rashford, Manuel Ugarte, and Rasmus Højlund for Joshua Zirkzee, Christian Eriksen, and Amad Diallo.

However, the decision to substitute Zirkzee did not please United fans.

One fan commented on social media: “Shouldn’t have taken off Zirkzee…we lost that link as soon as he left.”

Another added: “Zirkzee shouldn’t have gone off…even Amad was creating chances. Wrong subs totally.”

A third stated: “Zirkzee should have stayed on; the game changed after he went off.” Another user expressed: “Subs have not worked at all today. Creative technical players like Zirkzee, Amad, Eriksen who can move the ball rapidly out for Rashford, Højlund, and Ugarte.”

A fifth remarked: “Removing Zirkzee and Amad has effectively cancelled all our attack!”

Another fan commented: “Zirkzee being brought off was rather damning. He links play and maintains attacks without losing possession. That’s exactly what’s needed against a deep-lying defence.”

After the match, former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp stated on Sky Sports: “When you dominate like that, you have to capitalize. The subs didn’t do enough, and Manchester United will be disappointed.”

Following the draw, United currently sits 11th in the Premier League with just seven points from five matches.
