Wonderkid breaks silence on transfer interest after Man Utd ‘send scouts’ to watch him amid Arsenal interest

Manchester United has reportedly sent scouts to watch a player regarded as “one of the best young talents in world football,” who has responded to their interest.

The club has modified its transfer strategy this summer to focus on younger players following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a minority stake.

Eighteen-year-old Leny Yoro was signed from Lille for £50 million, but fans have yet to see him play due to a metatarsal injury. On transfer deadline day, they also acquired lesser-known midfielder Sekou Kone, 18, from Malian club Guidars. Now, they are reportedly targeting another promising prospect.

According to Norwegian outlet TV 2 Sporten, scouts attended Rosenborg’s match against Lillestrom on Monday, concentrating on midfielder Sverre Halseth Nypan, who was a starter.

The 17-year-old, who had previously drawn interest from Arsenal, commented on the rumors of United’s interest regarding a potential January transfer. He stated (as quoted by MUnitedFR): “I didn’t know about it, so I don’t really think about it. It will always be like that, so I don’t think about it. I have to learn to handle it, and I believe I have.”

United’s interest seems to have emerged during pre-season when they observed Nypan’s abilities firsthand. In their first friendly, they lost 1-0 to Rosenborg, who were in better form due to their active league campaign.

With many players away for international duty at Euro 2024 and the Copa America, Nypan is reported to have impressed scouts. He has achieved six assists and five goals in the 2024 Eliteserien season, including a standout hat-trick in Rosenborg’s 4-0 win over Lillestrom last month.
