VAR officials and the referee have issued an apology for the goal that Trent Alexander-Arnold was trying to score but was disallowed.

The Liverpool right-back was confident he had put his team ahead just seven minutes into their match against Manchester United, as referee Anthony Taylor had signaled the goal.

Nevertheless, the video assistant referee (VAR) intervened and overturned the decision, correctly ruling out the goal because Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah had been in an offside position during the play leading up to the strike.

The KMI has reviewed the situation and affirmed that the VAR’s intervention was appropriate, supporting the decision to disallow Liverpool’s goal. They also determined that referee Taylor’s initial on-field judgment was incorrect, thereby validating the VAR’s correction.
