“It appears to be [cramp],” Erik ten Hag mentioned about De Ligt’s condition, as reported by the club’s official website.
The head coach elaborated on De Ligt, Martinez, and Mazraoui: “We had internationals, a short season, some were short on pre-season, and some came from intercontinental flights, so when you have a 12:30 game, it can be challenging.
“Hopefully, it’s nothing serious; we need to evaluate it today or tomorrow to determine the situation.”
Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, and Luke Shaw are currently injured, and Ten Hag indicated they will not be available for the mid-week League Cup match against Barnsley.
“This is an important period with many games—seven in 22 days,” the Dutchman added.
“We need everyone, and hopefully, players will start returning. They won’t be back for the next game, but hopefully, they will rejoin the squad in the coming weeks.”
