The BLAMES: Liverpool player Arne Slot already had concerns about was to blame for Callum Hudson-Odoi’s winner
Liverpool dropped their first points of the season in a match against Nottingham Forest. The Reds played Nuno Espirito Santo’s side at Anfield on Saturday and, despite being the clear favorites, were unable to keep their unbeaten record intact.
The match concluded with a 1-0 defeat after Callum Hudson-Odoi, a former Chelsea winger, scored a crucial goal in the 72nd minute. This was Arne Slot’s team’s first setback in their quest for the title this season.
Hudson-Odoi, who received the ball from Anthony Elanga, executed a brilliant strike past Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Alisson.
Although Alisson faced criticism for not attempting to save the shot, commentator Gary Breen defended him by highlighting that Ibrahima Konate’s positioning was pivotal in Nottingham Forest’s winning goal.
“Konate obstructs Alisson’s view, and the keeper doesn’t even attempt to dive,”
Breen remarked live on Premier Sports 1 immediately after Hudson-Odoi’s goal.
Konate’s poor positioning might affect his reputation as a key center-back, with existing speculation about Slot’s lack of full confidence in him as a regular starter.
Last month, Football Insider reported dissatisfaction from the Liverpool manager regarding the 25-year-old’s underwhelming performance in training.
Liverpool will next face AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, revisiting the famous 2005 final.
