As Liverpool prepares for their upcoming fixture against Nottingham Forest, head coach Arne Slot is facing what many describe as a “managerial headache.” However, Slot is likely to view this as a rewarding challenge, given that he has almost his entire squad available for this Premier League match.

With Harvey Elliott the only player currently injured, Slot must choose which three players to leave out of the matchday squad. This is a favorable dilemma for the manager as he aims to maintain Liverpool’s perfect start to the 2024-25 season.

**Key Absences and Returns**

Harvey Elliott is the only absentee, as he continues to recover from his injury. Curtis Jones will return to the squad after missing the last two matches due to injury. Having resumed training, Jones is expected to be included in the squad for the Nottingham Forest game, potentially taking Elliott’s place on the bench.

Slot will also need to decide on the inclusion of Federico Chiesa, the new signing from Juventus for up to £12.5 million. Chiesa did not feature in the 3-0 victory over Manchester United due to a lack of match fitness, but after training with the team, he could make his debut.

**Goalkeeper Situation**

Alisson Becker is set to start in goal, having returned from international duty with Brazil. The Brazilian, who played twice during the international break, remains Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper. Caoimhin Kelleher, the second-choice keeper, is also available after participating in both of Ireland’s international matches. Vitezslav Jaros, Liverpool’s third-choice goalkeeper, is likely to be one of the players left out of the squad due to the presence of Alisson and Kelleher.

**Defensive Options**

In defense, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are expected to start as the central pairing, with Jarell Quansah available as backup. Joe Gomez has not yet played this season and seems to be lower in the pecking order, though his versatility might still earn him a spot in the squad. Gomez can cover both central and full-back roles, which may be useful if either Kostas Tsimikas or Conor Bradley is excluded.

Slot will also need to decide whether to exclude one of his defenders to make room for Chiesa if he opts to bolster his attacking options.

**Midfield Dilemma**

In midfield, Slot has several choices. Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo are likely to compete for the No. 6 position, while Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Curtis Jones offer additional options for more advanced roles. Tyler Morton, who has rejoined the squad after two seasons on loan, is training with the first team but has not yet been included in a matchday squad this season. Given the midfield depth, Morton might be omitted once again.

**Attack: Salah, Jota, Nunez, Gakpo, and Chiesa**

Liverpool has numerous attacking options. Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo are all available, and Chiesa’s potential inclusion could further strengthen the forward line. Slot’s decision will hinge on whether he considers Chiesa fit enough to make an impact on his debut.

**Predicted Full Squad for the Nottingham Forest Match**

Here is the list of players available for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest:

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Kelleher, Jaros.

Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Bradley, Van Dijk, Konate, Quansah, Gomez, Robertson, Tsimikas.

Midfielders: Gravenberch, Endo, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones, Morton.

Forwards: Salah, Jota, Nunez, Gakpo, Diaz, Chiesa.

With a nearly full-strength squad and several key players returning, Slot will aim to extend Liverpool’s winning streak and continue their strong form as they face Nottingham Forest at Anfield this weekend.
